When buying a good quality perfume, there are a few tick boxes which should always be checked before you buy it. Some perfumes look attractive due to the fancy bottle or branding; however, this doesn’t always mean it’s of high quality.
Here are a few simple things to check to tell is a perfume is of high quality:
- Longevity – The first thing to check is how long the perfume lasts. High quality perfumes can last the best part of the day and may only need a little top up. The best way to test this is to spray the perfume using a tester in a shop. See how long this lasts on the skins and how the scent develops after a while.
- Layers – Many good quality perfumes a made of different layers of scents which are known as the top, middle, and base notes. The top notes are the ones which you will smell first, the middle notes will be noticeable after a few moments, and the base notes are which will remain on the skin. If a perfume smells the same the whole time then this may be due to it being of low quality.
- Ingredients – High quality concentration and ingredients usually mean that the perfume is of high quality. This is because higher concentration of oils usually last longer on the skin and are stronger in scent.
- Price – The cost of a perfume is often a huge giveaway when it comes to quality, however, this may not always be the case. Big brands often use high quality ingredients, but sometimes it’s just the brand name that you might end up paying for rather than the quality. It’s a good idea to check reviews online or from others to see their experience with certain brands before buying.
